Kurigram District Awami League Leader Saju Arrested in Murder Case

DB Police have arrested Kurigram District Awami League Organizing Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Saju in the murder case of college student Ashiq.
On Tuesday (February 4) morning, the detained Saju was sent to jail through a court. He was arrested from Rangpur on Monday afternoon. The matter was confirmed by Kurigram DB Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Alam.
Police said that on October 10, a murder case was filed at Sadar Police Station against 104 Awami League leaders and activists, including District Awami League General Secretary Aman Uddin Ahmed Manju, on charges of murdering the student, assaulting, looting and arson. In this, 500-600 other people have been accused of murdering the student, assaulting, looting and arson.
The deceased student, Ashiq, was the son of farmer Chand Mia of Satvita village in Buraburi union of Ulipur upazila of Kurigram. He was a second-year undergraduate student of Panchpir Degree College in Ulipur. On the day of the incident, Ashiq and his younger brother Atiqur Rahman had gone to the procession. Later, Ashiq suffered a head injury and vomited in pain. On August 18, he was first taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and later to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical Hospital, where he died on September 1.
Kurigram District Detective Police OC Nazmul Alam said that a team of DB arrested Mostafizur Rahman Saju, an accused in the murder case, from Rangpur based on a secret tip-off.
