The interim government's information advisor Nahid Islam has resigned. It is reported that his resignation is aimed at forming a new political party. The new political party will be launched next Friday (February 28).
Earlier last week, Nahid Islam said that he is likely to join a new political party.
The Hasina government fell in August in the face of a student uprising under the banner of the anti-discrimination student movement. The National Citizens Committee emerged on the initiative of the students who led the movement on September 14. After that, preparations have begun to form a new political party.
It is almost certain that Information Advisor Nahid Islam will be leading the party. The National Citizens Committee says that if he wants to take charge, he will have to resign by this week. The leaders said that first there will be a convening committee. Then a full committee will be formed through the council.
The leaders said that it will be a moderate political party. It has no room for individualism. The conditions required for registration with the Election Commission have already been met.
A student affiliate organization of this political party will be formed, which will include leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement.
