Ulipur Thana Police arrested Md. Nazmul Huda (Ranu) (40), the Mouza President of Ward No. 1 of Ulipur Municipality, Kurigram, from Baker Hat Bazar in connection with the incident of beating up students who were participating in the anti-discrimination student movement.
Yesterday (Monday 16/02/2025) evening, he was arrested and sent to the police station.
He was the Mouza Awami League President of Ward No. 1 of Ulipur Municipality, Md. Nazmul Huda (Ranu), son of the late Riazul Islam of Nizai Khamar village, whose case number is 02(2)25.
Police said that on July 18, students of the quota reform movement were attacked and beaten from the area adjacent to Ulipur Maharani Swarnamoyi School and College and Masjidul Huda. In this incident, a student named Mosabbir Hossain filed a case with the police station on November 21, naming 44 people. Another 180 unidentified people were named as accused in the case. Ulipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zillur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that the arrested accused have been sent to jail through the court. And the police operation is continuing to arrest the other accused in the case.
