Three coordinators injured in surprise attack by Chhatra League in Noakhali

Rased Billah Chishti: Three coordinators were seriously injured in a surprise attack by Chhatra League in Noakhali's headquarters. The injured coordinators were rescued from the scene and admitted to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital and are being provided medical care.

The attack and beating took place in the Madhusudanpur area of the district town of Maijdi at around 1:45 am on Saturday (January 4).

The injured coordinators are - Noakhali University of Science and Technology student and student coordinator Mehedi Hasan Simanto (24), local student coordinator Mamunur Rashid Tushar (26) and Hasan Ahmed Ghalib (26). Sudharam Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Saifur Rahman Khan said that due to a dispute between two parties over a shop in the district town of Maizdi, the two sides got into a heated argument over the possession of the shop on Saturday evening. Locals took pictures of the coordinators and posted such a status on Facebook. When such a status went viral on Facebook, when the coordinators went to the spot around 1:30 am to reveal the truth of the post, the Chhatra League people suddenly attacked and beat them up. Later, other students rescued the injured and admitted them to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital. Two people named Bappi (28) and Fahad (30) have been arrested in this incident. Their political identity is not yet known. However, it will be investigated. Al Zaki Hossain, coordinator of the Nobiprabi Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said that the leaders and workers of the banned organization Chhatra League were involved in the attack. He demanded that the attackers be brought to justice immediately. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sudharam Model Police Station Kamrul Islam said that joint forces conducted a drive in this incident and arrested two people on Sunday morning. Further legal action will be taken after receiving a written complaint.
