Quddus Fakir sentenced to life in Narail murder case

A court has sentenced Quddus Fakir (54) to life imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000, and an additional three months of rigorous imprisonment in default in the Narail murder case. Ujjwal Roy, Narail District Correspondent said that Judge Md. Shajahan Ali of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Second Court of Narail gave this verdict at 11:30 am on Thursday (January 2).
Quddus Fakir, the life convict, is the son of the deceased Paran Fakir of the Dakshinpara area of Chourkhali, Naragati Police Station.
State lawyer (Additional PP) Kazi Ziaur Rahman confirmed the matter.
According to the case file, Quddus Fakir of the same village was married to China Begum, the sister of Ruku Sheikh of Chorakhali village, 30 years ago. Quddus had been torturing China since their marriage. China left the family in 2018 and moved to her father's house. By the end of 2021, Quddus wanted to take China back into the family. On December 3 of the same year, China's brother Ruku Sheikh went to bathe in the Nabaganga River near his house. At that time, Quddus told Ruku Sheikh to send China back. During this time, the two argued. At one point, Quddus hit Ruku on the head with an iron rod. He later died while undergoing treatment. The deceased's wife, Manowara Begum, filed a murder case with the Naragati Police Station as the plaintiff. After taking the testimonies of 12 people, the court announced this verdict as the incident was proven.
