A mobile court has fined a brick kiln half a lakh taka in Ulipur, northern district of Kurigram, for violating Section 5 (1) of the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Control) Act, 2013 (Amended 2019).
On Sunday (January 5), the Upazila Administration and the Department of Environment, Kurigram jointly conducted this drive against 01 brick kiln located in Ulipur.
At this time, a brick kiln named JMH Bricks located in Dharanibari Madhupur Bakara, Ulipur, was fined fifty thousand taka and warned not to use agricultural soil in the kiln for the purpose of manufacturing bricks in violation of the conditions of the clearance certificate.
Ulipur Upazila Executive Officer (Acting) and Executive Magistrate Kazi Mahmudur Rahman performed the judicial duties in the mobile court and Assistant Director of the District Environment Department Rezaul Karim provided the prosecution. At that time, Assistant Director of the Environment Department Rezaul Karim said that such campaigns for environmental protection will continue.
