Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, Kurigram Correspondent:
On August 5, the fascist Awami League government was overthrown under the leadership of the anti-discrimination student movement on the basis of a point declared at Shaheed Minar, which is a new direction and inspiration for the freedom-seeking people in various parts of the world, including Asia.
With the slogan 'Motivation of July, Declaration must be made', the Kurigram Anti-discrimination Student Movement and National Citizens Committee distributed leaflets demanding the importance of the July Declaration and its inclusion in the 7-point declaration.
The leaflet distribution program started from College Mor in Kurigram town as part of the central program on Wednesday (January 8) afternoon.
National Anti-Discrimination Student Movement convener Abdul Aziz Nahid, Mahmul Hasan Limon, Hannan, Zahid, Rajyoti and Citizens Committee members Md. Mukul Hossain, Hafizur Rahman Babu, Rashidul Islam and other leaders were present during the distribution of leaflets by these two organizations demanding the July Declaration.
Incidentally, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee have set a deadline of January 15 to announce the July Declaration. At this time, they have demanded that a declaration be finalized by talking to the participants who participated in the July Uprising.
The leaflet had 7 points - state recognition of the martyrs of the July Uprising and a promise to provide free state treatment to the injured as soon as possible, leadership of the 'Anti-Discrimination Student Movement' in the declaration, a clear commitment to ensure the trial of Awami killers and accomplices in the uprising, the continuity of the July 2024 mass uprising by keeping the link with the partition of the country in 1947, the 1971 Liberation War, the constitution, the main foundation of the fascist state system, the formation of an elected Constituent Assembly and the formulation of a new democratic constitution, the establishment of a state structure with citizen identity as the mainstay by eliminating all types of discrimination, and the abolition of the existing fascist state structure after the July Uprising, including all kinds of reforms, must be promised.
They demanded the inclusion of seven points in the declaration, saying that wherever freedom-loving people in the world have overthrown dictatorships or formed governments through mass uprisings, the power of the uprising has presented a declaration to the public to recognize such historic achievements.
