UP member Basna Mallick murdered by pouring poison in her mouth after gang rape in Narail. A Union Parishad (UP) member named Basna Mallick (50) has been accused of being murdered by pouring poison in her mouth after gang rape in Narail Sadar. Ujjwal Roy, District Representative from Narail said that the body was taken to her house from Jessore General Hospital on Friday (December 27) evening. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narail Sadar Police Station Md. Sajedul Islam UP member Basna confirmed the death.

The deceased's family claims that on Tuesday (December 24) morning, after distributing TCB goods, a local youth called Rajibul on his way home to collect the money owed. Rajibul, along with Faruk, Chanchal, and Shafiqul, gang-raped her at the house of Moktar Molya in Daulatpur village of Maijpara union, and recorded a video and demanded a ransom of two hundred thousand taka.

When the victim Basna Mallick said she would report the matter, they threatened her and poured poison in her mouth. She did not tell anyone about the incident after returning home due to fear. Later, when she fell ill, she was admitted to Jessore General Hospital on Wednesday (December 25) morning. At that time, she told her son Rinku Mallick about the torture on her and the names of those involved.

She died on Thursday (December 26) night while undergoing treatment.

According to eyewitness accounts and allegations from relatives, UP member Basna Mallick was subjected to gang-rape.

Moktar Molly's wife Sahida and daughter-in-law Sonia told Somoy Sangbad, "Member Basana was coming, they called him and took him to our house (accused Rajibul, Shafiqul, Chanchal, Faruk). Then he wanted to leave but he was forcibly detained. They forced him out of our house and locked the door.

Relatives are crying out in pain after losing Basana Mallick. The atmosphere in the house has become heavy with their wailing.

Basana Mallick's 80-year-old mother Sundari Haldar is lamenting with a picture in her hand, "Where is my mother, where is my mother?"

Locals and her colleagues have expressed anger over the unnatural death of such a popular public representative Basana and have demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits.

However, despite repeated attempts to contact the accused to find out the truth about the incident, no statement was received.

Narail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Sajedul Islam said, Jessore Kotwali Police Station informed us that UP member Basna Mallick had traces of poison in her stomach and evidence of multiple people having forced physical relations with her. After receiving this information, we immediately reached the spot. The matter will be investigated properly and the real mystery of the incident will be revealed and the culprits will be brought to justice.
