Human chain demanding justice for the murder of Jubo Dal leader in Kurigram

A human chain has been held in Ulipur, Kurigram, demanding the arrest and trial of the murderers of Municipal Jubo Dal joint convener Ashraful Islam. The human chain was organized by the Upazila and Municipal Jubo Dal at Masjidul Huda and Chowrangi intersection on Monday (December 30) afternoon.

Moderated by Municipal Jubo Dal convener Alamgir Hossain, the human chain was addressed by deceased Ashraful Islam's father Aynal Haque, Upazila BNP President Haider Ali Mia, Senior Vice President Abdul Rashid, General Secretary Obaidur Rahman Bulbul, Joint General Secretary S. M Habib Nayan, Municipal BNP President Nur Mohammad, Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Taufiqur Rahman Lavlu, Municipal Jubo Dal Member Secretary Taufiqur Rahman Taufiq, Upazila Chhatra Dal Convener Mahmudul Hasan Bipul, among others.

The father of the deceased Ashraful Islam said in the human chain, "The terrorists killed my son and orphaned his two ignorant children. My son was killed in the police station premises, but the police failed to play a responsible role. He demanded the immediate arrest of the killers and the hanging of those involved through trial.

It is worth noting that a meeting was going on at around 7 pm last Friday (December 27) at the Ulipur Police Station regarding the love affair incident. It was alleged that the joint convener of the municipal Jubo Dal, Ashraful Islam, died after being beaten by his opponent in the meeting. In this incident, the deceased's father, Aynal Haque, named 20 people and filed a murder case against 25 other unidentified people on Saturday (December 28).

Ulipur Police Station OC Zillur Rahman said that a person named Sultan Ahmed (40), who was named in the murder case, has been arrested in Dhaka with the help of RAB. He is being brought to the police station.
