HSC candidate bride accused of killing by poisoning, husband and mother-in-law absconding

HM Nasir Uddin Jhalkathi Correspondent: In Kanunia village of Rajapur, Jhalkathi, an allegation has been found that HSC candidate bride Najma Akhtar (19) was poisoned to death for not being able to pay dowry. Najma's mother Farida Begum and sister Maina Begum complained on Monday evening. Since the incident, accused husband Zahid Hossain and his mother are absconding. The candidate's family alleged that he was poisoned on Thursday afternoon and died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at Barisal Shebachim. Najma is the daughter of Abul Basar of Boulakanda area of ​​Guaton College area of ​​Kaukhali in Pirojpur and HSC candidate of Guaton College of Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila. The accused husband is the son of Abu Bakrar of Kanuniya village of Zahid Hossain upazila, a grocer. Najma's mother Farida Begum and sister Maina Begum complained that since they were married on March 8 of the current year, since they could not pay a large amount of expensive dowry, they used to beat and torture them physically and mentally for the demand of dowry. On Thursday afternoon, Najma's husband, along with her mother-in-law, poisoned her at one stage of the beating. When Najma told her sister Maina, they went and took her to the hospital. Even though Najma was buried in her father's house, none of her son-in-law or in-laws went. Najma's family demanded justice for the incident, alleging that son-in-law Zahid was addicted to mobile gambling and intoxicated. When a complaint was lodged at Rajapur police station on Monday evening, the police went to the spot on Monday evening. When asked, Rajapur police station SI Vipul said that the accused went to the boy's house and found the house locked and the boy and the boy's mother are absconding. The complaint will be investigated and legal action will be taken.
