Md. Ramzan Hossain Naogaon District Representative:
RAB has recovered about 14 tons (553.7 kg) of illegal explosives from the rented godown on the third floor of the old fish market (Masalapatti) Kazi Market in Naogaon district town. A young man named Sri Rupam Kumar (35) was arrested on Sunday around 10 pm. At that time another youth named Salauddis Bihari (45) ran away.
The arrested Rupam is the son of Nibaran Chandra Barman of Jothari village of Mahadevpur upazila of Naogaon and the fugitive Salauddis is the son of deceased Shamchul Haque of Khas Naogaon village of Bihari Naogaon Sadar police station. Confirming the truth on Monday, the RAB camp informed that Rupam is an identified illegal explosives dealer. He used to collect explosives in the name of tea leaves from the Shaistaganj border area of Sylhet through courier service and collected illegal explosives from the border areas of Naogaon and neighboring districts and sold them retail and wholesale in neighboring districts including Naogaon and in different parts of the country with the connivance of Salahuddin. After hearing this news, raids were carried out and they were caught red-handed while buying and selling them from the godown rented by Ropam. Later, Ropam openly admitted that he and the fugitive Salahuddin had been illegally collecting and selling explosives for sale in their rented godowns for a long time. He was sent to jail on Monday after filing a case under the Explosives Act-1908 at Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station.
