A mother and two daughters died in a landslide in Cox's Bazar

Three members of the same family died in a landslide at Jhilangja in Cox's Bazar Sadar.

The incident took place at 2:00 pm on Friday (September 13) in South Dikkule area of Jhelonga.

The deceased are Ankhi Moni, wife of Mizanur Rahman of Dakshin Dikkul and her two daughters Miha Jannat Naima and Latifa Islam.

Relatives said that at 2 o'clock in the night, during heavy rain, they heard a loud sound of a landslide from the direction of Mizan's house. Later he went there and saw that Mizan was buried in the ground with his family. Mizan was immediately rescued alive. Later, with the help of the fire brigade, the bodies of the wife and two baby girls were recovered.

They also said that Mizan's house is at the foot of the hill. The heavy rain that started yesterday Thursday afternoon made the ground soft. Later, at midnight, the mountain fell down on his house.

Abdul Hannan, assistant meteorologist of Meteorological Department Cox's Bazar office, told the media that 378 mm of rain has been recorded in Cox's Bazar in the last 24 hours. Which is the highest rainfall record in the current season.
