The chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus said, We are one family, our goal is one goal - a liberal, democratic, non-discriminatory, non-communal Bangladesh. We are committed to not letting any differences get in the way of our dreams.
The chief adviser said these things in his address to the nation at 7:30 pm on Sunday (August 25). He said, I salute all the children, teenagers, young people, students, elderly, old men, women of the country. Assalamualaikum I welcome you all to the new Bangladesh, soaked in the student revolution. Deepest respect to all those who died in the student uprising against fascism in July-August. May their souls rest in peace. I want to tell you something about the vow to build a new Bangladesh in return for their sacrifice. I am saying today's words in memory of those who have died, those who have fallen ill or those who have lost everything, who are living in misery due to the terrible floods of the past. We have arranged to take all initiatives at the government and private levels to normalize the lives of the flood victims. We have started discussions with our internal and neighbors to prevent all types of floods in the future.
Dr. Yunus said, you know, the revolutionary students have entrusted me with an important responsibility at this critical juncture of the nation. They want to build a new Bangladesh. I have joined them as a comrade in the struggle to make this deep desire of the new generation a reality. I call upon all people of all ages, all professions, all opinions, all religions to join this struggle without hesitation.
The Chief Adviser said, Bangladesh that we got in exchange for the blood of millions of martyrs and the sacrifice of millions of mothers and sisters, has been destroyed by fascism and dictatorship. You have seen how they have finished each of our institutions. Corruption has crept into the country. Our country has transformed into such a country, where the pawns of dictatorship have unquestionably done unimaginable things like making wealth of 400 crore rupees through corruption. Education sector has been crippled, looting in banking and stock market sector, world record in project expenditure, illegal wealth smuggling, transformation of law enforcement agencies into puppets of their own party, freedom of speech, human rights are just the tip of the iceberg. Fascist governments have undermined the constitutional powers and rights of the people to seize power. Misrule, corruption, unjust oppression, farce in the name of justice have endangered public safety. People have faced torture and deprivation and discrimination. Millions of people, including the new generation, have been disenfranchised over the years. Dictatorship has taken ownership of the country in the hands of some of its own, family and party people by creating all kinds of obstacles in the way of people's progress.
The chief adviser also said, standing on this threshold, we have to build the Bangladesh of dreams. I am committed to fulfilling the dream of the student movement with the dream of non-discrimination, non-exploitation, welfare and free air state. I call upon all of you to come forward with all your strength to fulfill your dreams on this auspicious occasion. Their dreams are our dreams. Youth have created a great opportunity in national life. We urge everyone to come forward to take advantage of the opportunity. After a fascist government-led exodus in the face of public outrage, we want to build a country where the human rights of every citizen are fully protected. Our goal is one - a liberal, democratic, non-discriminatory, non-communal Bangladesh. We are one family. We have one goal. We are committed to not letting any differences get in the way of our dreams.
