HM Nasir Uddin Jhalkathi Representative:
A residential house was gutted in the fire before the fire service personnel reached Nalchiti in Jhalkathi. The affected family said that there was a loss of around 8 lakh rupees.

On Tuesday (July 30), the fire broke out in the residence of Naeem Howlader, son of deceased Babul Howlader, of Lakshmanakathi area of Bhairabpasha Union of Upazila.

Naeem's uncle Babul Howladar said that the fire spread rapidly late at night and the fire service personnel were completely burnt to ashes before reaching the spot. Staying in the house, rice and pulses, food and essential items could not be taken out. However, I did not know how the fire started. As one of our family members passed away, there was no one in the residence as we were there at night.

Monir Hossain, member of UP from Lakshmanakathi area, said that nothing could save them except their school clothes. As no one was home at night, the house was completely burnt to ashes.

Nalchiti Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Nazrul Islam said tin and cash will be distributed to the families affected by the fire.
