Daughter's suicide after father's death due to conversion in Noakhali

Rased Billah Chishti: In Noakhali district city, a college student girl committed suicide within 30 minutes of her father's death due to her conversion. The incident took place at the house of Naresh Chandra Dey of Ukil Para, Ward No. 2 of Noakhali Municipality between 8:30 and 9:00 am on Wednesday (June 5). The deceased are - Naresh Chandra Dey and his daughter Tisha Dey of Ukil Para of Ward No. 2 of Noakhali Municipality. Deceased Naresh Chandra's daughter Tisha was studying in a college in Feni. The bodies were handed over to the 2 families after post-mortem at the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital on Thursday (June 6) around noon.

According to the police and local sources, Tisha, the daughter of the deceased Naresh Chandra, fell in love with a Muslim boy while studying in college in Feni and converted herself and married the Muslim youth. When Tisha's father Naresh Chandra came to know about the incident, he brought his daughter from Feni to his home in Maijdi, the district town of Noakhali. On Tuesday night, father and daughter tried hard to understand each other. Tisha is also pressured to sever all ties with her Muslim husband. But the girl was adamant about her husband. And he said that he had converted to Islam. On Wednesday around 8:30 am, while going to school, the deceased's younger son went to his father for money and found his father's frozen body lying in his room. Blood all around. Bleeding from the dialysis fistula site. Later, hearing her screams, other family members came forward. Seeing this condition of father, Tisha went to a separate room in the absence of family members, closed the door and hung a veil around his neck. Later the family members broke the door and recovered his body. After receiving the information, the police went to the spot around 1:30 pm and completed the post mortem.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sudharam Police Station Mir Jahedul Haque Rony said that Naresh was a kidney patient. He used to do dialysis at home. His daughter Feni was studying medicine. Converted and married a Muslim boy there. He did not accept this. That's why he brought the girl from Feni. After that, he tried to convince his daughter all night and failed. He died of a stroke after shouting about it. Later, half an hour after her father's death, the daughter committed suicide. Around 4 pm, 2 bodies were sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Details about this will be known after getting the post-mortem report.
