The moon of the month of Ramadan was sighted in Saudi Arabia on March 10, 1445 Hijri. Fasting starts from March 11. As such, Monday was the 29th day of the holy month of Ramadan.
Saudi Arabia has declared next Wednesday (April 10) as the first day of Eid al-Fitr as the crescent moon was not sighted on Monday evening local time. So this year the holy month of Ramadan will end in 30 days, the country has also said.
Earlier, the Saudi Supreme Court called on the faithful across the country to observe the crescent moon on Monday, the 29th of Ramadan.
According to Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the country's public and private sector workers will get four days off for Eid al-Fitr from Monday (April 8).
