Wife Tahmina Akhter (19) died due to abuse by her husband in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district. He died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Thursday.
Deceased Tahmina Akhter is daughter of Taher Ali of Chalbala Union of Kaliganj Upazila and wife of Alamgir Hossain, son of Abdur Rahman of Mahishamuri area of the same Upazila.
According to local sources, the deceased is Tahmina, Alamgir Hossain's 3rd wife. Tahmina lived in Akta's father's house. Last Wednesday (March 06) Alamgir Hossain visited his wife at his father-in-law's house. As none of Tahmina's parents were at home at the time, the husband and wife had an argument. At one point, husband Alamgir Hussain hit his wife with a tree branch, causing her head to split open and wife Tahmina Akhtar losing consciousness in a bloody state.
Later local people rescued Tahmina and admitted her to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Tahmina died last Thursday while being admitted to the medical hospital. Alamgir Hossain is absconding since then.
The officer in charge of Kaliganj police station confirmed the truth of the incident and said that a murder case has been filed in this incident.
