Bandar Thana police recovered the hanged body of an Awami League leader named Zahidul Alam Mintu (38) of Ward No. 38 under Bandar Thana of the city.

On Sunday afternoon, he committed suicide at his home in site number two area of ​​South Central Halishahar. Inspector (OC) Manjur Quader Mazumder of Bandar police station confirmed the matter.

According to local sources, Mintu used to serve as the legal affairs secretary of ward number 38 Awami League.

The OC of Bandar police station said that Zahidul Alam Mintu committed suicide at his house at 5 pm on Sunday.

Before his death he wrote a note. Quoting family members, the OC said that he was in debt of several lakhs.

He was mentally upset about the matter. In the note he also mentions that he committed suicide due to debt.

The police officer of the police station visited the spot and collected various personal information and if there are more problems including debt, the duty police officer of the police station said.
