Around half a hundred passengers were injured when the engine hit the coach parked at Lalmonirhat station.
The accident took place on Saturday (March 30) noon in Parbatipur Gami train No. 461 leaving Burimari at Lalmonirhat railway station.
Commuter train No. 461 of Parbatipur Gami leaving from Burimari stopped at the platform of Lalmonirhat railway station. At this time, the driver went to the loco set with the eastern engine to change the engine of the train. Later, when connecting another engine from the loco set to the compartment, when it pushed hard, about half a hundred passengers of the commuter train were thrown and injured in the compartment.
With the help of locals, the railway staff rescued the injured and took them to Lalmonirhat Railway Hospital where doctors provided first aid. Later, the injured again reached the destination in the same train. However, two female passengers were sent to Rangpur as they were seriously injured with head and hand injuries.
In this incident, Lalmonirhat station master filed a written complaint against the driver Gaur Govind in the Loco Set Department.
Lalmonirhat Railway Station Master Nurunnabi Islam told Barta 24com that the accident took place when the engine from the loco set was pushed hard to connect it to the carriage. About 40/50 passengers received first aid after receiving minor injuries. In this incident, a written complaint has been lodged against the driver Gaur Govind in the loco department. If he returns by train, action will be taken against him by the Roco department.
