In Kushtia, various sufferings are going on for the last 5 years, around one and a half hundred families are living non-stop inhumane life. Neighbors occupying the road gave threats in a terrorist manner when they asked for a remedy. The incident took place in Jagti Fulbaria area of Ward No. 17 of Sadar Upazila. The local residents said that the road of the local people is next to the house and land of the two neighbors, according to the rules, the road was laid out for the convenience of the local people a few years ago. Even though the land owner left the road, the owner of the neighboring house on the other side of the road, Md. Tofajzel Hossain Tofa (65), is reluctant to leave the road. Multiple poles have been occupied along the middle of the road for the last five years. People are suffering so much in densely populated areas that it is not possible to enter rickshaw-van-auto, even they cannot bring the body of the deceased to the courtyard of the house. The dead body was dragged to the main road and then placed on the cot, a family of the victim said in a tearful voice.
According to a complaint filed at Kushtia Model Police Station, on Tuesday, March 12, at approximately 1:00 p.m., there was an argument between the residents and the neighbors who blocked the road. 6 persons started a scuffle with indigenous weapons, during which several women and men including Shantana Begum, Sharifa, Feroza and Sujan were ambushed and injured in a terrorist manner. As there was no relief even after filing a complaint with the police station about this incident, at 11 am on Saturday, the residents of Ward No. 17 Jagti Fulbaria area of Sadar Upazila formed a human chain to demand the arrest and punishment of the attackers along with the neighbor Tofajzel Hossain Tofa who occupied the road. When we spoke to Sub Inspector Mustafizur Rahman, the investigating officer of the complaints filed by both parties at Kushtia Model Police Station, he told Ganakantha, "We have received complaints from both sides and have taken joint forces to the ground. The investigation is ongoing. We will be able to take action subject to quick investigation."
