A person named Badshah has been accused of beating up a vegetable seller named Moktar Ahmad (50) over a trivial incident in Unchiprang, Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. It is reported that Mokhtar Ahmad died on the way to the hospital.
The accused Azizur Rahman is the son of Maulana Abdur Rashid Prakash Maulvi Rustam of Unchiprang area of Hoikang UP in Badshah Upazila.
The victim's family confirmed that he died on the way to Gyalmara Hospital in Ukhia around 3 am on Sunday (March 17).
According to the family of the deceased Moktar Ahmad, when the accused Badshah wanted to take the remaining vegetables from the deceased Moktar, there was an argument between them as Moktar expressed his reluctance. At one point, the king beat Moktar and left him on the street.
Meanwhile, locals and eyewitnesses said that the deceased was not mentally healthy as he already had brain problems. Due to his brain problem, some bad natured people used to play pranks on him and he used to insult people. For the same reason, the king was insulted by the deceased Moktar. Later, in a fit of rage, the king also reportedly beat him.
Muhammed Mustafa, the son of the deceased Moktar, said that my father was severely beaten. Myrrh causes vomiting of blood. At one point, my father was not given a little water even though he asked for water shouting that he will die. I want justice for my father's murder.
Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Osman Gani said that the police are working there, legal action will be taken later.
