Advisor coach of Dakshin Halishahar Football Academy and former national star footballer Md. Shafiul Alam (Kalo Shafi) passed away at his home on March 12 (Tuesday) at 9 pm, Innalillahi... Rajeun.

General Secretary of Chittagong District Sports Association and former City Mayor Alhaj Azm Nashir Uddin, Senior Vice President Hafizur Rahman, Additional General Secretary Syed Shahabuddin Shamim, Joint Secretary of Chittagong Mohammedan Sporting Club and Central Hockey Federation have expressed grief over the death of late Shafi. Secretary Haji Md Yusuf, Football Players Association President Alhaj Professor Dr Nishar Ahmed Manju, General Secretary Md Hasan Murad, Organizing Secretary Md Lokman.

Apart from this, Ward No. 39 Councilor Haji Ziaul Haque Sumon, former Councilor Haji Md Zainal Abedin, former Councilor and A League President Haji Md Aslam, Police Station Committee Organizing Secretary Haji Md Abdur Rauf, Vice-President Haji Md Sahabuddin, Joint Secretary Md Harun expressed their condolences. Nazir Hasan, (Steel XI) Md. Aslam, Delwar Hossain, Md. Mamun, South Halishahar Football Academy Advisory Member Md. Delwar Amin Harun, Advisory Teacher Khabir Uddin Ahmed, Director Member Md. Aktar Hossain, Director and Team President Md. Nurul Amin Sohel, Team Manager and director Muhammad Babul Hossain Babla, former organizer Md. Zahid Hossain, Md. A. Halim Saudagar, referee association member Md. Taiyab Ali, Md. Jasim Uddin, Md. Harun ur Rashid and leaders of various organizations have expressed deep grief.

On March 13th (Wednesday) at 2 o'clock in the night, the burial was completed after the funeral at the site para cemetery adjacent to Hazrat Ali Shah Mosque. He was suffering from a serious illness for a long time. He prayed for the repose of the departed soul and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.

It is to be noted that Shafi started his playing career from Sunflower Club of South Halishahar in Chittagong and has played for Mohammedan Sporting Club, Chittagong Abahani Lee, Shatdal Club, Mohammedan Sporting Blues, Dhaka Youngman's Club Fakirapool, Chittagong District Sports Association team including national level star footballers and football players. He was a lifelong member of the association.
