33 thousand 400 pieces of yaba have been detained by Coast Guard members at Shahparidwip in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi told the media this information.
He said, on Sunday (March 17) based on secret information, a shipment of drugs from Myanmar will enter Bangladesh through Shahparir Dwip under Teknaf police station. Based on such information, a special operation was conducted in the estuary area of Nafnadi under Teknaf Thana by BCG Outpost Shahparirdwip under Bangladesh Coast Guard Eastern Zone. During the operation, a suspicious boat was intercepted in Golapara Jhowban area of Shahparirdwip. After searching the boat, 3 drug smugglers named Kamal Hossain (17), Majed Hossain (23), Mostafa Kamal (16) were arrested along with 33 thousand 400 pieces of yaba, 2 mobile phones and 1 engine driven wooden boat. Preliminary investigation revealed that all those arrested are residents of Shahparir Dwip under Teknaf Upazila of Cox's Bazar District.
He further said that the seized Yaba was handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
