On Valentine's Day, everyone wants to give fresh roses to their loved ones, marigold flowers to join the spring festival. And for Sarasati Puja, Palash flowers will be needed. All in all, rose is the queen of flowers and others. This year, since Spring Festival, Valentine's Day and Saraswati Puja are on the same day, the demand for flowers will be high, traders said. After that, the International Mother Language Day is coming a week later on February 1st.
Like every year, this year also the flower market has become busy around these occasions. Rose flower sales have increased due to Valentine's Day. Retail florists have bought flowers from the wholesale market. These flowers include – rose, marigold, ranunculus, gladiolus, gerbera, rothstick, gypsy, galendola, chrysanthemum, botham etc.
Usually each bundle of 300 roses is sold for 2.5 to 3 thousand taka. However, on Valentine's Day, this bundle is sold for 8 to 10 thousand taka. This information was known by talking to the flower shop and related parties.
Looking around the market, it has been seen that good quality rose flowers are now being sold at 60 to 80 taka. On Valentine's Day, according to the demand and opportunity, each rose will be sold for more than 100 rupees, said florists. Apart from this, rosin gandhar sticks are being sold at Tk 20 to Tk 30 depending on the quality, each marigold garland at Tk 80 to Tk 90, gerbera flower at Tk 30 to Tk 50, orchid stick at Tk 40-60, gladiolus at different prices depending on the color.
Today Tuesday (February 13) in Kalibari Road and Atharbari Union flower shops of Ishwarganj Municipal area - the shopkeepers are having a busy time. On Wednesday (February 14), they are planning how to display the flowers of their shop in front of everyone.
Traders said that since three festivals are held in one day, every shopkeeper is expecting to sell more than lakhs of rupees. Most flowers are sold on 14th and 21st of this month. Roses on 14th and marigolds on 21st sell more. On these days, many flower shops employ extra staff and craftsmen.
Ritvik, the owner of Kath Golap flower shop on Kalibari road in Ishwarganj town area, said that the sale of flowers has not started as expected. However, this sale may increase in the evening. This year, since Spring Festival, Valentine's Day and Saraswati Puja are in one day, we are expecting good flower sales.
The owner of Payal Flower House and Event Management, Accumik Gaur said, flower shopping has started on the occasion of spring festival and Valentine's Day. Till February 21, more than lakhs of flowers will be sold.
Student of Ishwarganj Government College. Parvez and Nigar Sultana said that the demand for flowers has already increased on the occasion of World Valentine's Day and Pahela Phalgun. Flowers are three times more expensive than other times. Flowers are in high demand on Valentine's Day, as they are the perfect gift to express love. Flowers increase the joy and charm of love in people.
