Husband Abdul Hamid, the main accused, has been arrested within 12 hours of the sensational murder of the bride by slitting her throat in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria. Hamid was arrested by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Akhaura Thana police while fleeing to India through the Baramura border of Akhaura upazila on Wednesday (February 14) morning.
The arrested Abdul Hamid (28) is the son of deceased Abdul Latif of Hirapur village of South Union of the upazila. According to the Akhaura police station, Taslima Akhtar, daughter of Abdur Razzak Mia of Basudev area of Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila, got married to Abdul Hamid, son of Abdul Latif Mia, who returned to Saudi Arabia from Hirapur village of Akhaura upazila, on Friday (February 10). Later, just 3 days after the wedding, Hamid killed the bride Taslima with a sharp knife on Tuesday afternoon and escaped. Taslima's brother, Abdul Quddus, who was killed in the incident, filed a murder case with Abdul Hamid as the main accused.
Akhaura police station OC Noore Alam said that after the incident, Hamid, who escaped, was quickly arrested by mobile trucking and raids were conducted at several places. Hamid keeps on changing the place again and again. Later on Wednesday morning, Hamid was arrested with the help of members of Fakirmura BGB camp while trying to escape to Tripura state of India through Baramura area of Akhaura border. However, the OC said that the investigation is going on to unravel the mystery of why the murder took place.
