Japan's new visa will allow skilled workers to work in Japan on a 'teleworking' basis for up to six months in addition to travel

 


The country's government is going to introduce a new visa to make it easier for employees of foreign companies to live in Japan. In addition to travel, highly skilled workers will be allowed to work in Japan on a 'teleworking' basis for up to six months, according to a Nikkei Asia report last Friday (February 2).  According to the report, the Japanese government hopes to launch this program within the next month. Japan is ready to welcome those interested in working from anywhere in the world. To be eligible for the 'Digital Nomad' visa, applicants must have an annual income of 10 million yen or the equivalent of 68,000 US dollars. In addition, applicants must be citizens of one of the 50 countries and territories with which Japan has a visa waiver agreement and have private health insurance.  The report also states that 'Digital Nomad' visa holders will also be allowed to bring their family members to Japan.
