On Tuesday (February 6, 2024), the court granted bail to BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas in three separate cases of Shahjahanpur, Paltan Police Station and Ramna Model Police Station. Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Sultan Sohag Uddin's court granted his bail on a surety of Tk 10,000. He got bail in a total of 9 cases. On February 1, Mirza Abbas was produced in court from prison. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury in five cases of Paltan Police Station and Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Sultan Sohag Uddin Ramna granted the request to show arrest in four cases of Model Police Station. After hearing on Monday, the court granted bail in six separate cases. However, he refused bail in three cases, including the killing of Paltan Police Station and the attack on the residence of the Chief Justice of Ramana Model Police Station. 11 cases were filed against Mirza Abbas in connection with BNP's general meeting on October 28 last year.
Among them, he was not arrested in five cases including the murder of a police constable of Paltan police station, and in four cases including the attack on the residence of the Chief Justice. Detective Police arrested Mirza Abbas from Shahid Bagh in Dhaka on the night of October 31 in the case of Sabotage and Explosives Act of Shahjahanpur police station. Later, the court granted a five-day remand in this case on November 1. After the remand, he was sent to prison on November 5. Later, in view of the application, he was arrested in another case of Dhaka Reloye Police Station.
