Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said in a press conference on Monday afternoon, 5 February 2024, in response to reporters' questions about the rape incident in Jahangirnagar University last Saturday night, no one could get away with doing bad things, nor will they get away with it. Even in Biswajit's murder, no one was allowed to go unpunished. Some from the organization can do bad things. It has to be seen if the team makes any concessions.

He said that although Chhatra League is a sister organization of Awami League, they do not condone any bad deeds. I want to say this strongly, no one can get away with crime.

It is known that on Saturday evening Mamun called the victim's husband Zahid (plaintiff) to the university on the basis of an acquaintance. The accused took him to the university and detained him in room number 317 (Murad's room) of the 'A' block of Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall. Mamun asks Zahid to bring the belongings left by himself at Jirani's house through his wife as he will stay in the university for a few days. Following this, the victim woman came to the campus with Mamun's belongings. Later, Mamun took the belongings from the woman and left them in Murad's room inside the hall. After returning from the room, Mamun took the woman to the forest adjacent to the hall along with Mustafizur saying that her husband would leave through the other gate of the hall. Later, the woman complained that she was gang-raped there.
