RAB-5, CPC-3, Jaipurhat RAB seized 72 kg of ganja by searching a private car from Charmatha area of Badalgachi, Naogaon. One person was arrested on charges of drug trafficking.
On Wednesday (February 28) at 11:30 a.m. in a press conference at Naogaon Circuit House, RAB-5 Joypurhat Camp Company Captain Major Md. Sheikh Sadiq
Monir Hossain (42), son of Muslim of Kuchrai village of Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet district, was arrested.
Based on secret information, RAB-5 learned that on Wednesday drug dealers Monir and Alamgir from Comilla to Badalgachi area of Naogaon will carry cannabis in a private car in a novel manner. On the basis of such information, a vigilant raiding party of RAB-5, CPC-3 increased intelligence surveillance at a place called Charmatha under Badalgachi police station of Naogaon district, established a check post and searched and arrested the drug lord Monir with a private car while transporting 72 kg of ganja hidden in a fancy way in a private car. But driver Alamgir managed to escape. Later, in the presence of witnesses, 72 kg of illegal drug, ganja, hidden in the private car of the arrested accused was recovered.
Major Sheikh Sadiq said that the arrested accused Monir and the absconding accused Alamgir (driver) are identified professional drug dealers. It is known that they have been supplying drugs from border areas to different parts of the country for a long time. Monir, who was arrested, said in the initial interrogation he has been in prison for a long time he used to collect consignments of ganja from the border areas of Comilla and was supplying ganja by private cars to different parts of the country avoiding the eyes of the law enforcement agencies.
Later, the arrested accused was handed over to Badalgachi police station of Naogaon district to take appropriate legal action.
