Election Commissioner (EC) Anicur Rahman said that political parties have the right not to come to the polls, but there are provisions for imprisonment and other punishments for obstructing the voting in the elections. So legal action will be taken if anyone prevents voters from voting.
He said this while talking to reporters at the Agargaon election building in the capital.
Anishur Rahman said that strict action will be taken in the case of the death of a supporter of an independent candidate due to election violence. Field officials have already been instructed to remain neutral.
He said that the political parties have the right not to come to the polls, but if they prevent others from voting, there are other punishments including imprisonment.
EC Anichur said that the candidatures of some people are going to be canceled due to the allegations of irregularities, and extensive administrative changes have been made to maintain the electoral environment. More will be done.
