On 27 December 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in Pan Pacific Hotel Sonargaon of the capital, convener of the manifesto formulation committee and presidium member of Awami League Dr. Abdur Razzak said in his welcome speech at the beginning of the election manifesto ceremony that Awami League implements the electoral promises made before the nation very efficiently.
At this time Dr. Abdur Razzak said that the party has implemented the manifesto that it announced before the nation in the 2014 and 2018 elections very efficiently. This success has been greatly appreciated by the people of the country and the people of the world. I have prepared the Awami League election manifesto as a document of commitment on the occasion of the upcoming 12th national parliament election.
He also said, "We have taken the opinions of civil society, professionals, youth and different classes of people in formulating the manifesto. Accepting their recommendations, I have given importance in the manifesto. This manifesto is aimed at how to build a developed Bangladesh by 2041 by using it fully to establish a developed Bangladesh through informed advance progress in all fields of Awami League in the last one and a half decades.
On the occasion, he said, this time Bangladesh is Smart Bangladesh. The main goal of this year is to develop the skills of the young society and increase employment in the construction of this Smart Bangladesh. In the manifesto, 11 issues are preempted. Among them, all-out efforts to reduce the price of goods and keep them within the purchasing power of all, taking strict measures to establish order in the financial sector including banks, ensuring the effectiveness and accountability of the law and order forces, ensuring workable education and employment for the youth, building a smart Bangladesh based on modern technology, investing in mechanization and processing for the purpose of profitable agriculture. Emphasis is placed on growth, increased investment in industrial expansion, providing health care to low-income people, curbing communalism and all forms of terrorism, and promoting the protection and practice of democratic systems at all levels.
He also said that the slogan of Awami League's manifesto in the 2008 election was 'Certificate of Change'. Then in 2014 it was 'Bangladesh is moving forward'. The manifesto of the party that led the liberation war in 2018 had the slogan, 'Bangladesh on the march of prosperity'. And the election slogan of the party in 2024 is 'Smart Bangladesh: Development is visible, employment will increase this time'.
