In a virtual press conference on Thursday afternoon, November 30, 2023, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced a 48-hour blockade program in the ninth phase to demand the resignation of the government, the cancellation of the schedule for the 12th National Assembly elections and the release of the arrested leaders and activists including Begum Khaleda Zia.
He said that the 48-hour blockade program will be observed from 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM on Tuesday. All the leaders and activists of the alliance of BNP are requested to attend this program and make it successful. Our movement is marching towards victory. The movement will continue until victory is achieved.
In the press conference, he also said that even though the ruling Awami League, Chhatra League and the police continue to attack and torture the BNP and its organization's leaders and activists, the BNP leaders and activists are putting their lives on the line and are resolutely succeeding in their program from the streets. For this, Rizvi thanked and thanked everyone on behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman.
Incidentally, on October 28, when the BNP's mass gathering in front of the central office in Dhaka's Naya Paltan was interrupted by the police, they called a morning-evening hartal on October 29 to protest the police attack on the mass gathering with a demand for the government's resignation. Like-minded alliances have also observed this program simultaneously. Since then, they have been conducting a 48-hour blockade every week with two days off on Tuesday and Friday-Saturday in a phased manner. So far they have carried out the program of the 8th round of blockade.
