Ghaskhal of Kumarkhali held a wreath-laying and remembrance meeting in memory of the brave freedom fighters who died in the frontal battle with the freedom fighters.

 

On November 9, 1971, a wreath laying and memorial meeting was held in memory of the brave freedom fighters who died in the battle against the Ghaskhal freedom fighters of Kushtia Kumarkhali with the Pak invading forces and the Alsams Albadars of Razakar.

On the morning of Wednesday 8th November at Sadaki Union of Kumarkhali, Kushtia, Ghaskhal Memorial Monument Preservation Committee organized a floral wreath at the Ghaskhal Muktijodha Memorial Pillar and after the wreath laying at the Ghaskhal Muktijodha Memorial Monument, prayers were offered and the commemoration meeting started with the National Anthem at Gopalpur Government Primary School premises. In the meeting, 1 minute silence was observed in memory of the martyred freedom fighters.

On this occasion, Ghaskhal Memorial Preservation Committee President Bir Muktijoddha Md. Chand Ali was present as the chief guest, Member of Parliament of Kushtia-4 Constituency Barrister Salim Altaf George, Kushtia District Unit Command Former Commander, Bir Muktijoddha Manik Kumar Ghosh spoke as the main speaker. Kumarkhali Upazila Command Former Freedom Fighter Commander ASM Waheed Panna, Hero Freedom Fighter Zahiruddin Mia, Hero Freedom Fighter ATM Mizanur Rahman, Hero Freedom Fighter Nurul Islam Nuru, Hero Freedom Fighter Swapan Kumar Nag, Kumarkhali Upazila Jubo League President Harun Or Rashid Harun were present.

Dr. Abdul Matin, freedom fighter, Abdur Rauf Sardar, Alhaj Khandaker Abdul Matin, Sadaki Union Chairman Md. Minhajul Abedin Dwip, Sadaki Union Jasdar President Md. Babar Ali Member, Kumarkhali Freedom Fighters General Secretary Zafar Iqbal spoke in the meeting moderated by Shishir Ahmed Nayan. Saiful Islam, the son of Moktar, a brave freedom fighter.

Kumarkhali Upazila Jasdar General Secretary Advocate Joydev Biswas conducted the entire program.
