The price of chicken and onion has increased again, but why such an unbridled price increase?


 Within a week of various measures, broiler chicken prices have increased by Rs 10 per kg and domestic and imported onions by Rs 5 per kg. According to traders, due to continuous rains, the supply of all these products is not enough, so the prices have increased. Besides, the prices of other daily products including rice, oil, flour, potatoes and eggs have remained stable.

According to information obtained from various markets of the capital on Thursday, October 5, due to continuous rain, the prices of onion and chicken have increased due to lack of sufficient supply according to the demand of consumers. The regular price of broiler chicken was Tk 180 to Tk 190 per kg. It has increased to Tk 190 to Tk 200 at present. The price of golden chicken has increased from Tk 310 to Tk 320 to Tk 320 to Tk 330 per kg.


Meanwhile, the price of domestic and imported onion has increased by Tk 5 per kg. As a result, the price of domestic onion has increased to Tk 90 to Tk 95 per kg. The price of imported onion has increased to Tk 65 to Tk 70 per kg. Among which onion is one. It was not seen to be sold at the fixed price of 64 to 65 rupees set by the government.


The government organization Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is on the rise in the market price of onion. In the last one week, the price of domestic onion has increased by 3 percent to 80 to 90 taka and the price of imported onion has increased by 4 percent to 65 to 70 taka per kg.


Apart from onion, the price of potatoes and eggs was fixed by the government. Although the price of eggs was set at Tk 144 per dozen, the eggs are being sold at Tk 145 to Tk 150 per dozen. The price of fine medium coarse rice has not decreased. Bottled soybean oil is selling at Tk 169 per litre. Beef price is Tk 700 to Tk 750 per kg and beef price is Tk 1000 to 1100 per kg.


Meanwhile, looking at the current market situation of fish, it can be seen that the price of tilapia and betel nut fish is Tk 200 to Tk 250 per kg. Rui fish is Tk 350 to Tk 450 per kg. At the end of the hilsa fish season, the price of 1 kg of hilsa is Tk 1300 to 1500. The price was out of reach like this. Talking to different hilsa users, it is known that less hilsa is coming to the market this year, so the price of fish in this country is high.


There is no relief in the vegetable market. Due to the continuous rains, the import of vegetables in the wholesale markets is low, so the price of vegetables has gone up. Round eggplant is being sold at Tk 80 to Tk 100 per kg. Chichinga, shrimp and dhundal are being sold at Tk 60 per kg. Price per kg. The price of pap is between Tk 30 to Tk 40 per kg. Due to continuous rains, the price of green chillies has increased and the selling price is Tk 200 to Tk 220 per kg.
