The police have arrested 9 people in connection with the robbery in the Mohammadpur Turag river walkway of the capital Dhaka.

On 1st October 2023, nine people were arrested this evening by raiding different areas of Mohammadpur in connection with robbery on Turag river work way.

The nine arrested are Laguna Driver Md. Akash (19), Sidewalk Genji Seller Md. Nayan (20), Dano Co. Delivery Man Md. Sajal Islam (19), Pratyay Bus Helper Md. Abul Kalam (21), Auto Driver Md. Arif (19), Garment Worker Md. Sajib (19), transport painter Md Kabir (23), mason Md Nasir (19), Laguna driver Md Sujan (20). Dhaka Metropolitan Police-DMP Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner HM Azimul Haque confirmed the arrest.

According to the police sources of Mohammadpur police station, the members of this gang have been committing various crimes including robbery and theft in different areas of the capital Dhaka by showing weapons, sticks, etc. to the common people. Mobile and wallet stolen. A man named Faim was beaten up and his iPhone taken away from the front of Smart Bombay Restaurant in Workwet, Turag River. After that, in front of Hundred Mile Restaurant, Nusrat Afrin and his friend Ruhul Amin snatched mobile phone and 1200 taka. Also, on the way to 40 feet, they intimidated various people and snatched more valuables. A case was filed against them in Mohammadpur police station.

The Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division said that after hearing the news of so many robberies being organized on the Turag river workway in Mohammadpur, Mohammadpur police station started to arrest the involved and recover the goods. Fit Rasta, Future Housing, Rajdhani Housing, Basila Garden City, Green City and Dhaka Udyan area checked the CCTV footage installed at different places and identified them.

He also said that with the help of digital Bangladesh technology, the accused involved in the robbery were arrested from different places in Dhaka city. Accused Akash was arrested from Rayerbazar, Md. Nayan from Tin Rasta Mor, Md. Sajal Islam, Md. Abu Kalam and Md. Arif from Chand Udyan, Md. Sajib from Shekertek, Md. Kabir from Mohammadia. Lohar Gate of Housing Limited, Md. Nasir and Md. Sujan were arrested from Basila Garden City.
