Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Hindu community, begins on Friday, October 20. On this occasion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended her heartfelt greetings to all Hindu citizens of the country.

In the speech, the Prime Minister said, Durga Puja is not only a festival of the Hindu community, it is now a universal festival. Destruction of evil forces and worship of truth and beauty are the main features of Sharadiya Durgotsava.

The Prime Minister said that Bangladesh has been a country of communal harmony for a long time. Inspired by the mantra 'Religion for everyone, festival for all', we celebrate all religious festivals together in Bangladesh. Our constitution guarantees equal rights to people of all religions and castes. We all made Bangladesh free by fighting the liberation war. This country belongs to all of us. Bangladesh is a safe abode for all people irrespective of caste and religion. Everyone is practicing their religion independently. The current Awami League government is developing everyone regardless of caste-religion-caste-group. People of all religions are equally enjoying the benefits of development.
