EC Alamgir said that the army will be deployed this time like every time in the National Assembly elections

 


Chief Election Commissioner Md. Alamgir said while talking to journalists at the election building of the capital on Sunday, October 15, that the army will be deployed this time like every time in the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections. The Chief Election Commissioner said that members of the armed forces will serve as a striking force in the National Assembly elections.



He also said that 414 platoons of the army and 48 platoons of the navy were deployed in 18 upazilas as a striking force from December 24 to January 2 in the 2018 eleventh national parliament election. 50,000 members of the armed forces were deployed as a striking force in the 10th National Assembly elections on January 5, 2014. The armed forces were deployed in the previous two elections under the Aid to Civil Power Act to assist the civil administration. Earlier the armed forces were deployed as part of law enforcement. However, the law was amended in 2009 to separate the armed forces from the definition of law enforcement.
