Vehicles and people of all professions are in trouble on waterlogged roads in Dhaka due to record amount of rain.

After light rain at various times throughout the day on Thursday, it rained continuously in Dhaka from 6 pm to 9 pm. 23 mm of rain was recorded on average according to the sources of the Meteorological Department. Heavy rains occurred in different parts of Dhaka city in Dhanmondi, Mirpur, Elephant Road, Newmarket, Banani, Gulisthan areas. Roads are submerged in water. As a result, long queues of public transport traffic and people from all walks of life including private microbuses along with general professions are suffering. Many vehicles running on CNG gas are lying on the roads in waterlogged conditions due to waterlogging.

The weather forecast had earlier said that light, moderate and heavy rains are likely till Friday due to the low pressure generated from northwest Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas.
Meteorologist Omar Farooq said in an interview after 10:00 PM that the average rainfall during the whole day was 9 mm. But from the evening till 9:00 PM, the average rainfall was 23 mm.
Rainfall after 9pm is measured at 12pm and the average rainfall is expected to be 40mm.

According to weather forecast at 6 pm today, there may be light, moderate or heavy rains with thunder in all districts of Bangladesh. Also, night and day temperatures may remain unchanged.
