According to the sources of Education Office of Galachipa Upazila, Sharmin Akhter Liza, a teacher of 79 East Lamna Government Primary School, went abroad for treatment for 30 days, even though a year has passed since the end of her leave, she still has not attended the school.
Teachers, parents and local residents are expressing their dissatisfaction and said that there are six teachers for 141 students, one of them is in London and the acting head teacher Helena Begum has to be out of the school for various tasks. Because of this, other teachers are struggling to teach the students.
Upazila Primary Education Officer Mir Rezaul Islam said that 'I informed the District Primary Education Officer (DPEO) about this once in six months and again after a year has passed. Later District Primary Education Officer Molla Bakhtiar Rahman said, I came to know about the absence of Sharmin Liza last month and a departmental case has been registered. Further action will be taken as per the rules.
